Flushing Dog Fun Trials

We will have flushing dog fun trials perennially on the second Saturday of the month, April through August. The next flushing dog fun trial is June 24 at 8 a. m. Please contact Jack Weiss or Owen Metcalf if you would like to enter a dog, judge or catch birds in the morning. I need a chairman for the August 12 flushing dog fun trial.

Under veteran judge Tom Clark and rookie Steve Petri seven Springer’s, one Lab and one Cocker kicked off the first flushing dog fun trial of the season April 8. It was beautiful windless morning. Scenting was poor. Dogs that were allowed to work the cover found all their birds. George Kelley’s Springer Moose took the third place yellow ribbon. George has only entered two fun trials but has earned two placements with two different dogs, a Lab and a Springer. Dave Jarrett’s Springer Bandit placed second. Larry Michnevich and his Springer Beam outclassed all the other dogs to earn the first place blue ribbon. Anyone interested in training tips please see George, Dave or Larry any Saturday morning at the training grounds.

Livingston Outfitter Mitch Hurt and Cheryl Johnson judged a field of 15 Springer’s, Boykin’s and Lab’s in the second Flushing Dog Fun Trial at Headwaters May 13. In spite of their gunners performance Springer’s Midnight, trailed by Al Gadoury placed third and Beam, pestered by Larry Michnevich placed second. Greg Johnson’s Springer Tori earned the first place blue ribbon.
